Rent and income.  They go hand. If you have any where to live, then you have to pay rent or a mortgage. In order to pay those you have to hae an income of some type. Simple reasoning or is it? We pay rent to someone else in order to live in their building or house. Or we pay a mortgage payment to a financial institution for a building they technically own but we are buying on time payments. Eventually, sometime in 10 to 30 years we have payed off the loan and own that building and land. If we were renting, we have had a place to live for those years but nothing to show for it.

That is the way we live. It is hard when we start out after high school or collage to be able to afford the down payment for a mortgage. So  most of us start by renting a place and hopefully we make enough to save for that down payment. At lease that was the way it was when i was growing up and graduated from school.  At that time we were told to that the cost of the house we wanted should not cost more that 2.5 times our annual wages. Just to give you an idea minimum wage was $2.30 an hour, so that multiplies out to about $4,784 dollars a year and the house you could afford was about $12,000. The  average house cost about $43,000 dollars then, so you needed to make about $17,000 dollars a year or about $8.26 an hour. That was the average wage for a union factory worker with the range going form $5.85 to over $10.00 an hour. That was the average, but many people did not make $8.00 an hour.  Many only made minium wage and the rent for apartments was based on that income.  So the apartments cost about 33% of what they made or about $100to $175 a month.

Now days we are seeing a trend for a minium wage of $15.00 an hour but rent is running anywhere from $1200.00 to %1800.00 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment and a home runs from $200,000.00to more than a million.  At $15.00 an hour wage that employee makes about $2400 a month before taxes or a take home pay of $1800 a month.  Now think about that and you see that rent runs from 66% of their income and up. and buying a house is completely out of reach.   To buy that starter house at $200k you need to make  about $34.37 and hour for 33% of their income if the house costs $400k then that equals 5.6 times their income.

It seems that as wages go up rent and houses go up and about 1.5 times that the wages go up . The low income individual is always having to struggle just to pay rent.

TV Dinners—now and then

Just had what passes for a TV dinner now days. At least I thought it was a TV dinner. I was supposed to be a chicken fried chicken , mashed potatoes and corn.Well i got the mashed potatoes and the corn but the meat was supposed to be chicken breast with rib meat attached. what i got looked more lick 3/8 of an inch of breading and a paper thin slice of chicken, maybe it was chicken paste added to the breading because i could not find what i would call a slice of chicken in that whole patty.  Another thing i noticed is that the color of the meal was all yellow!  I always thought that a dinner meal should have more than ONE COLOR on the plate.   Oops,  I meant  plastic tray, it was black , so i guess that i have 2 colors on the tray for my meal. Just looked at two other TV dinners I have in the freezer on is Sweet and Sour Chicken and on the box it shows 3 different colors of vegetables and golden brown entree. The other one shows all yellow noodles and brown meat patty on the outside.

When i was growing up we were served real food.  It was always on the table by 6:00 PM, and it consisted of at least 3 colors. Most entrees were brown and then 2 different colored vegetables. Now I like green beans and peas and corn and lettuce, but i could not eat raw tomatoes, and didn’t like the taste of broccoli or Brussels sprouts (the taste was to strong for me). TV dinner came out when i was growing up and they came in aluminum trays. The entrees were  about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch thick, then they usually had potatoes of some kind and also there was another green vegetable on that trey. This was all covered by aluminum foil and we had to wait for the oven to cook them until they were hot. They were called TV Dinners but in my family we seldom ate them while watching Television (TV for short). We were civilized and ate them at the table. then we had mabey 2 brands to choose from now i think there are about as many brands as there are letters in the alphabet.

Good Luck choosing

Today, it can be argued that an entire genre is dedicated to yellow journalism

Every time I turn on the television or the radio, I feel like I’m halving to wade through mud as high as my knees, some times as high as my thighs. Yes I live in the great northwest and we get lots of rain this time of year but I am not talking about that type of mud. I’m talking about that mud being slung about this country by the news papers and the politicians. About those people that we trust to supply  the new and weather by which we invariably plan our daily lives.

MUD SLINGING- the use of insults and unjust accusations about someone caricature and/or reputation. This election year mud slinging is being heard and used by just about each and every person running for an elected job in the state and local and federal governments all across the USA. There has been one player in this past years MUD SLINGING fight that has had 20+ people attacking him  and yet he has come out as the head of one of the parties struggling for the prime post of wonder in this country. This past August when he was all alone at the convention, he won through to capture that flag. Slowly the other leaders of that camp started rallying around him until the other camp continued using attacks on his caricature and his past.  They know what to say totry and ruin a man. Get women to say that he groped them or tried to do so. Even had one say he did it on a commercial airplane when he own several  for his own use.

YELLOW JOURNALISM- the use of reporting news with little or no  legitimate well-researched news but instead use conjecture and exaggerations to sell news and to get higher ratings.  The news reporters take those accusations and run with them. Not really checking if the accusations were true, BUT ASSUMING that they are true. The news agencies don’t ask for proof of the attack. They know that defending against that type of accusations is all most impossible. The news agencies and the rich (who own the Media) don’t like his policies for the country. They know that he will do what he can to bring back the jobs that were lost since NAFTA and TPP were past. They know that they will have to start paying their fair share in taxes because he will close all the loophole they currently use to keep from paying taxes.

Of course he is not innocent of many of the same tactics. Name calling mainly, bringing up their past records for voting against the people’s right to own and carry a weapon and to defend their-selves.  Stating  how Obama-care is failing (premium increase of over 80% this year), outlining how to get social security back on its feet, reigning in free flowing immigrants in to our country. His plans to secure our southern border is not liked. but all these things need to be done in-order to start rebuilding this country. Our infrastructure is in shambles and he mentioned this, it needs to be rebuilt and the TRILLIONS we spend on other countries in war and in aide could be used to rebuild this country. just rebuilding the roads and the bridges would employ several million people. Raising a tariff on the companies that took their plants out of this country or they could rebuild the factories here and employ million of people now only in the factories but all those that would be needed to build those factories. These are the things he has advocated and yet the YELLOW NEWS AGENCIES refuse to acknowledge these ideas.

Yes, I am defending this man for wanting to see our unemployed being given a chance to work again. Yes, I defend him for wanting to see his grand-kids with the chance to build a better America. Yes, I defend him for his vision of America being the leader in freedom and liberty for all Americans and those immigrants who come into this country the correct way and those that embrace our freedoms and do not try and impose their religious beliefs on others by force.

His opponent in these last weeks till the vote believes that Obama-care just needs a few tweaks. She wants to bring in 500,000 “refugees” and give them more money each month (about 3,000 dollars a month, subsidized housing, free schooling) than those who worked for 10 or more years get on SSI and SSA (as low as 754 dollars a month). She wants to take away the right to have weapons and to destroy the 2nd amendment to the constitution. She uses scare tactics to get people to vote against her rival. It seems everyone has forgotten the she was involved in the whitewater scandal in the 1980’s and still believes she did no wrong, or getting the rapist off with 10 months. How about the fact that she supported NAFTA and TPP which lost 90% of the manufacturing in America to third world counties. And most of them still pay less than $1.00  per hours for their workers and work them 10-12 days. Many of them don’t have child labor laws or if they do they are very lax. She wants to privatize Social Security again. It was privet until the 1930’s when the Social Security Act was passed. Then people worked until they died or they were taken care of by their families when they were to crippled to work anymore. She wants to increase the tax on those who make the least. That is what the DNC wants.

Me. I want this country great again, so I will vote for the one who has a plan that fits my ideas and what i want for my grand kids.

Let’s go, Move it, soldier, move it. What do you think this is a play ground? Get in line there. Move it up close. Come up you lazy dogs, get your nose right it that hair line of the man in front of you.  Now stand still. The Trucks will be here in 15 minutes.

Aah the planned soldiers conundrum.  HURRY UP AND WAIT!  For 8 weeks back in the 80’s I suffered under that plan of patients  training while i was a recruit for the ARMY. It didn’t mater if you were in the reserves or the regular ARMY. It was always HURRY UP and WAIT. From the time I was awakened by a Sargent walking threw the barracks or the fire watch coming thru waking me out of a deep sleep.  Next it was hurry up and get dressed. Double time it out side and line up in formation. Then we had to HURRY UP an wait for the Drill Sargent to march us to breakfast. The whole day it was hurry up and wait fo r8 WHOLE WEEKS. I wondered what I had gotten myself into when I signed the paper work. I found out that I had put my life on hold.

After those first 8 weeks for basic training, i could have had as many as another 18 months of AIT or Advanced Individual Training depending on what specialty profession I had chosen to be trained to fill. Luckily for me, I had chosen a military profession that was a self paced program.  Meaning that I would be there only as long as I needed to be there to learn how to repair the weapons that other soldiers would use in their military professions.  I was not one of the fastest to complete the course but I was not the slowest either. I was in that training course for about 18 days to learn how to disassemble  all the small arms that the army used for protection. The smallest being a revolver to the largest being an jeep mounted recoilless rifle. As I said, I was not the fastest but I did have the highest proficiency score to that date that I graduated that course.

I did not think that ,”HURRY UP and WAIT”, I learned from my time in the military would be of much use later in my like; boy was i mistaken. I learned that any time i needed to be some place at a certain time, no matter how much extra time I allowed, I would be late. “HURRY UP and WAIT” in traffic, or at the gas station. or at the fast food restaurant. Or when you get to your appointment 15 minutes early, then you have  to  “HURRY UP and WAIT” for the person with whom you had the appointment. Especially at the Doctors office. I have waited there as long as 1 1/2 hours before the doctor care into the room. He was in there for about 10 minutes at the most then gone. More “Hurry up and Wait” for the nurses to bring back the Doctors orders or the shot or what ever we had to wait for.

Then it was pointed out to me that God also teach us to wait and to have patience with all things. And He asked where were we when He laid the foundation of the world. Why were we so impatient about all the things in our life that we have no control over. There it was, the reason I needed that training from the ARMY to “HURRY up and Wait”.

Urgent via the world is frequently in Urgent mode

Urgent.  Urgent …urgent…

When  I saw that prompt, I immediately thought of the song by the band Foreigner. A great song recorded in 1981 about how we are living our live in the fast lane.  We felt the need to have everything fast, that it seamed like our blood was on fire, that it was driving us to excess. So we needed things URGENTLY back then.

One would think that things in our lives would have settled down since that time but as I look around me, I see that life is going faster and faster. Every body need their things even more urgently than before. Faster cars, faster food service, faster mail delivery. And women are even starting to complain that pregnancy are to slow. They want it NOW.

Urgent . so Urgent! The need for life and love is Urgent. We can not wait and see if it is real. I see it every day now on Face book too.  Friend requests from different people and if I accept them as friends and even say hi one time, then I get proposals for marriage and not just proposals, but men assuming that I am their woman. Their property. These men  are looking for URGENT love. They want it now. They don’t want to wait and see if it is real. I am not looking for URGENT love or a life filled with needing everything in an URGENT manor. There is nothing in my live that is an emergency and needs URGENT attention.

SUBDUED- The lighter side

Subdued, it is the lighter side of life. These days life is fast and filled with so many events in our lives that most of us have a hard time keeping up with all of it.Our kids having to deal with school and homework, after school activities, and activities at home.  The parents have to get their children up for school and then get them selves ready for work. After that they have to deal with the traffic and congestion getting into the office or the store. Of course or lives get frantic as we start work, that feeling of having to do more and more and to do it faster and faster. This happens not only at work but at home also, the need to go faster all the time. If we keep this up,  going faster all the time, we may begin to fade. Our strength will begin to fade, our endurance will fade, the time we need to do all the thing in life start to fade. and we find that we are becoming lighter and lighter, or maybe it is we become subdued in life and friends.

The  lighter  we be come the more subdued we get. Soon we are so subdued the we listen and do things that we would not normally do. this country has been on that route for the last 30-50 years. Always having to go faster and things faster and live life  faster. We are now doing things so fast, that we have become subdued to all the things that are going wrong in the USA. Our sensibilities, our ability to judge thing in an ethical manor, our knowing what is right or wrong, our  ability to see the many lies that we are being told all the time by the politicians have become subdued to the point where we see only the lighter side of those we like (the dark side hidden).

We see how the actions of Hillary  Clinton have been subdued in the eyes of many Americans today. We see the same thing with Donald Trump as to how his actions have been subdued to the eyes of Americans  No matter what is said about the two candidates, if we support them then we can only see the lighter-side  of their campaigns. Hillary nice kind and sweet willing to do anything for the country. Donald strong and willing to do everything he can to make America great again.

So we as a country have become subdued and the only thing  we see is the lighter side of life.

Daily Prompt: Disagree

via Daily Prompt: Disagree

I DISAGREE- what do i disagree about?  Well, lets start with the idea that someone is not a good choice to be president just because they have never been in politics. Politics is learning to deal with others in everyday life.  An example would be if you were in school and trying to get another student to join you in a science project. You have to use politics to convince them that your idea is a good choice.  Or if you are the manager of a company and you need your employees to clean the equipment a certain way, you can dictate how it is to be done or you can compromise with the employees on how to do it and why it is the best way. Both of those are using politics. One way is dictatorial and the other is  a more democratic way.

When we are selection leaders we need someone who understands what is wrong with the country and has a plan on how to get the problems fixed. Fixed may not be the right word but it is close.  The country -USA- has lots of problems. We need someone who has knowledge or experience in running a business. Because the USA is a business.  We need someone who can work with planning finances. They also need to have the knowledge on how to get the work done in a reasonable time frame and under budget. They need to have the wherewith all to handle many thing at once.

People who have been in politics for long periods of time tend to want thing to go one the same way they always did.  A business man has to have the ability to make changes when necessary to cut the fluff and fat from their business.  The current politicians have the propensity to keep things the way they currently are. All most like they are afraid of change. The current policies that the leader of the United States do not answer the problems we have to deal with today.  The lost of high paying jobs from the manufacturing sector. Yes there have been millions of jobs created in the last 8 years but the majority of them are low wage jobs in the service industries. This country was built on the high wage paying jobs that were the manufacturing industries : ie: automobiles, the shoe industry, the electronics we have in our lives today were developed form companies that are now all over seas.

Since 1994 when NAFTA went into effect, the United /states has lost 80 percent of the jobs that were paying  the high wages that made up the middle class employees. then we had GATT which works to reduce tariffs on trade this has ways of bringing down wages also and there are other trade agreements that are detrimental to the high paying wages that the United States use to have. These are the things that politicians want to keep the same.

The next president of the United States of America  need to address these problems. He needs the experience of managing people to get things done on time and under budget. He has to have a plan to restrict the inflow of immigrants into this country and a plan to protect the country from insurgents and terrorists. Not to bring in even more immigrants and no real plan to combat the terrorist who want to destroy this country .

I see Donald Trump is a business man who has had his ups and downs. He has learned from his decisions and what it takes to run a big business and the United States of America is a HUGE business. I believe that Donald Trump is the right man for the job.
